Hahah! He upgrades the software to get new features but not the hardware?

I'm guessing he either may not know how cheap he can replace the computer for (relatively speaking) or his real concern is the disruption to getting the new one up and running.

Would it help to sell him on how he can burn CD backups now, instead of his, what? Reel-to-reel *g* backup?
