We are running SQL Server 2000 and have done a database backup using Veritas. When we restore the backed-up database the Veritas software errors out restoring the log. The data .mdf file appears to be intact ( by size anyway ). I have used sp_attach_single_file_db and get an error that the log file doesn't match the data file. This to me is a contradiction to the purpose of the procedure. I have tried various tricks re: detaching a newly created database of the same structure and copying the .mdf over and re-attaching etc... this also failed My question: Is there anyway to recover the data from my .mdf file without accessing or bypassing the corrupt .ldf , maybe using bcp of something? Note: The database I want remains unattached.

Thanks a bunch.
