Where I work we have a VFP system running on a NT server with only about 20 users and 3 Out of Process servers running on the NT box accessing over 20 gigs of partioned fox pro data. Configuration of the work stations hasn't been a problem, but Win 95 performance versus NT Workstation 4.0 convinced us to move away from Win 95 (NT Work station 4.0 with 32 mb of RAM is much quicker then Win 95 w/ 32 mb RAM).
Performance on the server was in direct relation to the amount of RAM it was running, Max it out as much as possible especially if your server will be directly processing data. Take a look and determine the actual number of processes running on the server that seems to effect performance more then the number of users or the number of files open simultaneously.
