The problem is I'm not selecting any text or inserting the mouse pointer anywhere. I'm building the document using Word as an automation object based on input from a fields in a VFP form.

I think I need to programatically simulate a text selection so I can apply different text attributes. Like you said, setting begininng and end points sounds right. I haven't had much time this week to work on it, so I'm gonna shut up for now until I can do more research. Thanx Jay.
