Borland is really in between places right now. Delphi 6 is loaded with .NET stuff, SOAP stuff, Sun ONE stuff and alot of thin client looking things.

If you teach Client Server, make it as simple as possible, I'd either use VFP, or ADO.NET in VB or C#.
