Both can be changed. IMO, the protection by HDD info is useless and harsh for the user.
Suppose I buy from you an application wich interogates my hdd and stores the serial number somewhere. In case I change my hdd, your app will stop working.
But I am a legitimate user! Why your app stopped working? It's a pirate copy? No way! I've just changed my hdd, that's all.
More than that: the serial number of the hdd is changed automaticall at every format. So: if I back-up the hdd, format it, then restore it from back-up, your application will stop working. This is not fair.
