I just wrote a prg that replaces one which generates an html file from 4706 names of lottery workers. It took about 10 seconds to generate the html code, and about 1 minute to generate the pdf. The pdf is 236Kb against the 505Kb html file.
The prg to generate the pdf was a LOT easier to write, manipulate, and more compact.
It just costs too much. $300 for a developer OR workstation license. Quantity licensing should reduce that but it is priced too high, regardless. If I write an app that is going to let 35 people generate a pdf file, the cost would be about $10,000.
Luckily, I don't approve or disapprove of software purchases. :)
