Steve Gibson has developed a method to do a port scan very rapidly. So have others, including crackers. Blocking port 80, forcing others to switch to different ports, is only a bandaid. The crackers will/have modified their code to check all ports.
I run DSL at home to, using a Cisco 675 router. CodeRed was hitting me every minute or so. I turned off its web portal access and that stopped CR from bothering it.
