The thing I hated most about Office (before the 2k version) was the time it took me each time (i.e. on each new machine) to find where do I switch off the automatic disappearance of unused stuff from the menu. I remember the frustration... no, that's an understatement, I was feeling like a complete idiot, trying to find something in the menu that was there yesterday, and getting new grays in the beard instead.
