I'm not sure how being a fixed font affects the alignment? If I have this column of numbers:

1000.00
  50.00
 500.00
2000.00

I wouldn't expect them to stay right aligned when I choose left justify. That's why I was so surprised that they did. All I can think of is that it's the input mask making space holders ahead of the numbers.
