If it's between two SQL Servers on the same version (or a newer version, post- SQL7), you can use sp_attach_db:
EXEC sp_attach_db 'mydbname', 'c:\mssql7\data\mydb.mdf', 'c:\mssql7\data\mydb_log.ldf'
