I beg to differ. Real programmer's use assembley language, write a custom program to generate the letter, output the whole thing to a paper tape punch whose output tape drives a ROM zapper. ... The resulting ROMS then being used to drive an 8-bit microprocessor that prints the resulting letter on a military issue, 75-baud teletype. Ooooops! Forgot to flip the invert switch when programming the ROMS....uhhhhh, OK, ... desolder the memory buffer chips on the memory board and replace them with those having inverted outputs (hell...you think I'm gonna waste 40, 2K ROMs?) (don't forget to change this to a "dash 1" in the drawings!)....ahhhhh....now it works!

Been there, done that.
