Ontario is changing the guidelines regarding the boundaries of its provincial sales tax.

Apparently they are going after anyone who spends time 'installing software'.
Has anyone had any experience with the Ontario government auditing their business and declaring time spent developing software PST taxable?
Some businesses are being charged four years back taxes.

Further, according to reports I have read any organization that bundles services with software must pay PST on the entire transaction.

The regulation was changed in 1997 and was not widely publicized until April 2001.

The province's position on help desk staff : "if they touch a keyboard they're installing something"

What a mess.
