Thanks a lot for your idea. I have somthing similar to that but a little less convoluted.

1. create a control class.
2. Put a shape and label on the class
3. I cover the area with my label.
4. I then create my little methods that i need
5. When the events are fire from the label i call my methods

Just like you i am having a little trouble with the movement of the mouse. I did know there was a mouse enter and mouse leave event. I am going to try that.

I hope someone gets this colour thing going in a very simple way.
