I don't know if gplib can do this for you. I can, however, explain what the problem is with what you're trying to do. Simply put, Windows (winspool.drv) needs to resolve (via the registry) what the printer driver is. This requires that the driver be installed and registered. If it's not, it won't be able to do this and, as a result, won't be able to print.
