I have had considerable success with opening the dbf file in Excel 97, using the dBase File Type, then saving it elsewhere still as dBase. The only problem is if there is a Date column that has no data at all, Excel sometimes saves it back to .DBF format as text. Solution is to put a date in the column in row #1 and then delete the data via FoxPro. Don't know if this works with Memo fields in the file, as I do not use them.
