Basically it is how it sounds. If you use adUseClient the reference is physically created on the client side. This means that you can disconnect from the source and still have your recordset available to you. In my own experience have never ahd to sue the adUseClient as I have never used disconnected recordsets. Also, if you need to do heavy processing on the recordset and you want this work to be done on the client rather then the server you can use the client side cursor. I'm sure someone can provide better detail but that is my knowledge of it.
