Martin, I do NOT know how to do it with GENERAL field type; however, I am
currently doing it with *.jpg, *.gif, etc by storing the original into a
MEMO field and then using "ImageN" fll to display it - VERY VERY FAST PRODUCT.
I also store the name of the file stored in the memo field into a character
field, then just "copy to file" - it works fine.
Before I went to MEMO field completely I tried storing both as a GENERAL field
AND a memo field. It worked but fpt bloat was horrendous. I discovered the
Imagen product in a newsgroup - go to htt;://www.jpg.com for info and a free
demo fll or ocx. Good luck.
