This is just like EDI. It's a standard but every implementation requires field <--> field mapping.

Oh, and in the electronics components industry you can 'map' (specify) a particular transistor or resistor from Mfg A. and when you try and use a transistor/resistor from Mfg B. made to the exact same specifications often it will simply not work.

XML gets us a long way towards the goal of a sort of universal language but there will always be the mapping issue IMO.
