when I got my Second Cobalt server (I know have three qubes ) love them !
I started / or attemped to work with interbase, Actaully installed it over on my Windows machine as well. Doing everthing I could think of to get the puppy to work.... Which ... when I stopped working with it, it still didnt work.
The problem was for me at the time, was finding a suitable ODBC driver for Interbase, which was FREE - and there just wasnt any. the server is free, but they dont support ODBC anymore, and other compaines are selling for a hefty price ODBC drivers for it.

It seems - or at least what I found out was that internbase, was bolted to Delphi, and Delphi has other means of connecting to it. and since they are giving away the server software, and selling delphi, why should they also give away ODBC drivers ? That may or may not be why.... its was just my experience with it.

I ended up using Mysql on my Qube, and never looked back. Lots of tools for
Mysql, (best one Mysqlfront.) and to really work with PHP, and a database, you might also check into codecharge, writes php scripts an html forms for you based on data in your database (any odbc accessable database)

Sorry I cant give you more help on Interbase. only months of frustration looking, trying, to find some way of getting to work inside fox...

You might try the boreland newsgroup, who knows there ight be a good solution out there now.

>It's now open source, and the download is amazingly small for a database server. Plus, we are starting to use Cobalt network appliance boxes for things like web servers and such, and they come with a copy of InterBase already installed. The upside I found so far is that it is easy to install and configure, and it runs on a lot of platforms. The downside is that I had to try three different ODBC drivers before I found one that actually worked with VFP. Two others would work under Access or in MS Query but gave errors in VFP, third time was the charm. The one that works is Gemini.

In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
