There is no practical way to do this. Christof Lange answered this question in a FoxPro Advisor column about a year ago. It involves including a call to a UDF in the INDEX ON command. Then hacking the CDX to remove the UDF call using VFP's low-level file editing.

YOu are better off redirecting SET TALK to a specific Window where you can control the display if the number of records indexed. This is what Stonefield Database Toolkit does, and it is quite nice, effective and most practical.
