I am setting up a second Windows 2000 Server machine (neither Advanced) to be a replication partner for the original domain controller machine so that in case of that machine being inaccessible I can set my router to send web requests to the other domain controller and maintain continuity of web service.
I told setup that this new server was to be part of my original domain. Setup had no problem with this, but when using the dcpromo Active Directory install wizard, I chose another domain controller for the original domain, and specified the domain name and the wizard went on to the next page where it asks for the full domain name. Here the proper fullname was already displayed and I could browse to it also, but upon clicking next, I got, "The domain "xx.local" cannot be contacted. Select a different domain. (If this domain was recently created its name may not yet be registered with Domain Naming Service)
Both machines are local. This is keeping me from going on with the process. Any ideas on this?
TIA
