IF YOU DO THE FOLLOWING IT FIXES THE PROBLEM

Load Monitor/Server parameters/NCP

and SET ENABLE CLIENT FILE CACHING = OFF

then reboot the server.

Also UPGRADE TO VERSION 3.3 OF THE CLIENT AND INSTALL SP3

Another thing to check is

Load Monitor/Server parameters/Locks and set the following

1. Maximum Record Locks per connection = 5000
2. Maximum Files Locks per connection = 250
3. Maximum Record Locks = 200000 or 1. times the number of users + 10%
4. Maximum File Locks = 200000 or 2. times the number of users + 10%
