This is regarding an article that appeared in PCWEEK magazine few weeks back that I've found interesting and wanted to know what some of you think. The article was about how Zinc Software have put up on their website for free download their Zinc Application Framework which they use to sell for big bucks. For those of you who haven't read the article, the basic synopsis for the article would be the interesting way in which the company makes money from their C++ framework. They let the developer use the latest version for free but charge for support and deployment only. The author goes on to provide reasons why he thinks this method/model of marketing will be the future.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that I know there are few very good Foxpro frameworks and some even provide "basic" and somewhat useful framework for free but all require purchase and payment UPFRONT to developers for use. Would above explained marketing model work for a Foxpro framework?

Just curious.
John.
