Charlie:

I picked up a ugate 10/100 mbs switch from ugate, address http://www.maxgate.net/home/index.html to connect to my home based ADSL service. The switch automatically provides my IP address to the TZO.COM who keep the DNS up to date. This way I have a low priced simple firewall which serves the internet to 6 workstations here as well as allowing me to host a web server, access my network via PcAnywhere etc...

Watch out though. Once you start hosting, you have an additional time inventment in your server whether it be IIS, PWS or whatever. It can go down or get hacked. I got hacked last month (no it was not code Red) even though I thought I had kept up with security bulletins and patches. You can't just rely on Windows Update. You have to look into bulletins and patches for each application which has web access (Exchange, SQL Server, IIS, Indexing service etc...

With this setup, I can register an URL and it always accesses my server.

Good Luck
