Thanks for the solution, It worked like a dream. The problem I am having now is that after connecting and disconnecting a couple of time Windows Nt starts giving you error stating that the com1 port is still open. You mentioned in your previous message some thing about a 'sleep' command that is used to reset the com port. Please could you tell me what parameters I have to type up to get this feature to work.
