>We are running windows 2000 small business server. We are running DHCP,DNS,WINS,Exchange,Active directory, terminal server on a dell twin processor with 768mb ram, 768mb of virtual memory. This is always been a problem since we got the server in May, the only reason I have only resently noticed its a problem, is that my main role is a programmer and the network administration was given to me because I had some knowledge of networking. The reason I think its always been a problem because the windows 95/98/me machines have always had problems logging in. I have created this morning a lmhost file for these machines but I would like to resolve the wins problems

If you're providing DNS services alreadyand DHCP, do away with the WINS service for the domain, assign each machine a unique host name in it's DNS settings, and use DNS to resolve WINS for you. At least it's what I tend to do for typical domains using Win2K Server.
