I have set up an import connection for a client who runs a "Sales Interface" (retail counter and cash register sales POS program written in FP 2.6)
What I did was write a program that makes an intermediate file (.dbf) setting things up in the PeachTree format, then the user imports the intermediate file information.
This allows him to print all of his checks within PeachTree without having to reenter all the data (which he used to do).
This approach can also be done with Quicken, but I was only looking at his old version of Quicken, and it would have been a lot harder -- I don't know the latest version of Import format for Quicken.

It only took me about 20 hours to set everything up (not including client training, because client didn't know PeachTree).
Now, all of his checks every week are printed through PeachTree.
(which also tracks his GL account data from the check payments)
