Thanks for your tips. I have added the =reccount() on the one place where I do tableupdate() after append blank.

Like DOS 4 the NT SP4 is quite buggy, so an update to Sp6 or switching to another machine is perhaps the next logical step. But I should like to see the file truncated or records updated in wrong position once again.
