Believe me, you have my sympathy on changes like this one.

In fact, I was going to suggest that it be submitted as a bug report, but before I did so I thought that I'd check the VFP6 Help first (which I had to reload).
To my surprise it had the same 'restriction'. So the change was to make the coding respect the specs.
It would have at least been nice for the "behaviour changes" or "Enhancements to existing..." to note this.
