You guys will never know the joys of waiting in long lines. It was actually fun, I know people who were bringing barbecues, some even arranged to meet in the queue... eventually got married.

At some point we had the phones of each gas station posted in the office, and half of the people had their private contacts there. When we got info on "gas station south of town will have gas tomorrow morning" we went there with all five of company cars plus a couple of private ones, and waited in an organized queue, helping each other push the cars. Yes, push, because cold engines waste a lot. It was fun, most of the time. And a waste of time, as well.
