John,
I've been dragged beyond where I wanted to go in these discussions. Yes, the US has helped in many cases, but it must be admitted that it has made matters worse elsewhere. That is not what I was trying to say.

What I was aiming at in the first place was that America now has a unique, pivotal role in the action against international terrorism. The actions it takes will be seen as a role model for the rest of the world & so should be tempered with that in mind.

If the ultimate aim is world peace, regardless of our individual beliefs or religions, then the US response must be towars that goal, however humiliating it seems to the bereaved & the angry citizens of your country.

A very serious misjudice has been performed on your country, but it can be used to the benefit of the entire world if handled correctly.
