Did you try setting the default font for the report to a fixed-width font? (Report | Default Font...) Mine show WISIWIG. Also, the Layout toolbar is pretty helpful, allowing you to align a bunch of controls.

I've done it that way in the past, but in this case, for some of the reports anyway, I would prefer NOT to, as the reports comprise MANY pages with data divided into 15 groups, each with a group header and summaries, something easily handled in the report writer.
