It depends a little on what you mean with "forever". If the setup time takes 1/2 hour, or 1 hour, and if you need it only once every few weeks, well, you can just go and drink a coffee.

I don't actually have experience with InstallShield, but the Setup Wizard included in VFP6 and earlier versions works similar to what I explained.

Pressumably, any other setup program would try to compress files, and, well, this simply takes time, compared to just copying files in W.Explorer.

If you don't need compression (say, you distribute over CDs), perhaps there is an option to omit compression. E.g., in the Setup Wizard, "Net Setup" means uncompressed, "Web Setup" means compressed.
