>Hi Jim,

>>As I'm sure you all know, the Canadian border is like most borders of the world when it comes to exit and entry (to another country). When driving to the U.S. you drive right through the checkpoint of the country of exit (Canada) and are inspected at the country of entry (United States), by agents of that country (of entry). Our border can only be porous in OUR direction form our responsibilities there.

>I would agree with one exception. Try the above riding a Harley Davidson. Passage through our common border in either direction is far from a "drive through". I do speak from experience.

I'm sure you do, Jim. But that would serve to show that there is MORE inspection, not less (or none).
By the way... in the last 10 years or so there has been a "gang" problem in Canada, most particulary in Quebec and Manitoba. They have murdered many many people and control most (illegal) drug sales in the country. These gangs members tend to ride Harleys. That likely contributed to troubles you have experienced entering Canada. A form of "profiling", I agree.
Jim
