Hilmar,
1) VFP6 implementation is possible with a container at top. All you need is to calculate current position and 'scroll' the inner container + resize labels if need be.
However IMHO if grid would be used for viewing purposes only then an activex grid like MSHflexgrid would be a cheap solution.
2) In VFP7 it's straight forward. Headerheight + wordwrap in header is sufficient.
