No, tables can't get a virus (I suppose they could store one in a general field...but it wouldnt & couldnt be active) but if you think about how a database works, it scans forward and backward through all it's tables all the time. If Norton antivirus has system scan enabled then it will virus check these tables continuously and slow everything down.
