My company just bought 2 new copies of VFP7, we will upgrade the rest once the Board authorises a move to VFP7 - ? when that might be.

Our next release is 20011001, due 1 October. The team is in the middle of full-on testing, documentation and packaging of this VFP6 solution.

In the meantime my chaps have been tinkering with VFP7, looking at Intellisense and picking through the Help file for new features.

So far the chaps are pleased about the repositioning of runtime files out of sys32. If MS isn't going to include them with the OS as they will with the CLR, we might as well get them out of there so we have more control- easier to implement higher level refox encryption as well.

Not everybody will agree with this and it isn't something we expected, so if we'd looked for reasons to upgrade before we upgraded, we might not have spotted that one.

I think people who want to keep using VFP should upgrade. Higher sales = more profit = indication to invest from MS. This isn't a threat or FUD, it is how savvy businesses work and MS is savvy.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
