I just tried it in 2.5a and it worked fine. Is it possible the memo is corrupted? I've seen corrupted memos in FPD that seem to work find until you do something specific to them. If a network are some sort of disk quotas in effect?

Are you using the default MEMOWIDTH and BLOCKSIZE?
