I think it's time the equation be re-derived. BTW, the results of this equation clearly contradict any of the projections you mentioned about oil reserves.

Talking about population, the state of Texas is large enough to accomodate the entire world population.

Another bit: at least HALF of all the people that has ever walked the earth is alive today. If you think about this one a bit you'll realize that it's as elemental as saying that triangles have three sides.
