Hi!
You can do it easy with use of custom classes put into the columns after each change of the grid record source. Take a look to the VFP Grids article in the Universal thread Magazine, September issue, where all these tricks described - that is useful also to define your own controls and headers for columns in run-time for dynamical grids.
HTH.
>OK, lets say I have a basic grid, Column count = -1. It gets populated by select statements when a user picks a value from a combo box on the same page. So the data in the grid can change at the drop of a hat, the columns change to match the different cursor layouts(from the different select statements). My boss wants to be able to click on a value and have it passed to another page, filling textboxes there. My question is has anyone ever had to do something like this before with similar circumstances?

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs
It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
