Timothy,
If your dealing with SQL Server, try the following statement:
SQLExec(lnHandle,"SELECT * FROM amcs_inventory_data where CHARINDEX('" + svar + "', location) > 0","Result1")
CHARINDEX() is very similar to VFP's AT() function.
