>>I am still trying to set up a sytem/file/user dsn. I seem to have all 3 on my working system although I'm not sure what/how I did it. On this other system, I keep getting invalid file dsn. Does the user logged in to this other system need rights on the NT server that's running oracle? So I'm not even at the vfp stage yet on this other PC.

All you should have to do is use my ODBC DSN class in a VFP prg or method to check for then create a DSN if what you need does not exist. Once you create the User DSN, you can use that to connect via SQLExec or a remote view. YOu can also create a connection in the DBC that uses a string instead of using a DSN. Look at the bottom of my class for an example of a string. It will be in the context of a SQLStringConnect function.

I was doing it thru control panel/odbc. So doing that is unnecessary if I use your prg? I see in your prg refernce to registry.h, which I don't have, there are alot of proceedures and it's a bit confusing to me. Do I run odbcdemo.prg or just odbc.prg
