>The Unique Index option no longer appears in the drop down list of index types when adding a new index to a table. However, if you add the index manually, it appears! VFP7 Help says "Visual FoxPro supports four types of indexes: primary, candidate, unique, and regular." I guess using a UI isn't PC these days.

The "unique" option is only included for backward compatibility. There should be no reason to use "unique" indices. What other database systems call "unique" is called "candidate" in Visual FoxPro. A primary key should be marked as "primary".

Probably, the designers of VFP decided to get rid of the outdated option from the UI, to avoid confusion.

Hilmar.
