You must be forgetting how horrible the Original was to start with. Do forget it was cancelled. It takes a while with any new show to establish characters and interaction. It was the character definition that was built over time that made the show and the movies great. I thought it was the second best FIRST of the ST shows. NG being first in my mind, due I'm sure in no small part to my anticipation of a new series after doing without for so long.

William Shattner never got any better at acting. But the original is a classic. Give them a chance. Again go back to the original and count the barbs between Spock and the Doc.

Again I felt it was a very good script. Mild disapponitment with the time travel idea this early and the visit to Kilgon home world so soon. Over all high marks for script and Scott B.
