I hope you are not taking any of this personally. Are you suggesting the SQL Server book? That book is talking about SQL Server which has to be accessed via ODBC. Please prove that VFP accessing data via ODBC will outperform VFP accessing data without ODBC.

>>Not dreaming. You said it yourself. You never did figure out why. Someone also suggested the ODBC driver may have "converted" the queries in some way that made them more optimizable, but the anecdotal evidence you provide isn't enough to conclude that just using ODBC will beat local views.
