Gerald,
When you tableupdate you write out to disk. Others might have changed underlying base data while you're working, view doesn't automatically refresh it. You need to do an explicit requery(aliasname).
On online help there is a whole chapter for views. Check 'Using Visual Foxpro\Developing VFP applications\Working with data\Creating views'
