>It can be reliable on some machines, but I have already demonstrated on several computers that it is very unreliable. I ran that code on my PC over 20 times in a loop and inserted the entire return value strings in a table. No part of the string was ever duplicated in other records and not 1 had any semblance of my MAC Address.

1. Wild guess: I believe this is a privacy issue. Somewhere along the line MS decided to scramble the MAC address component of the GUID - a lot of software vendors were using it to identify users in http cookies (including, I think, MS itself). I suppose that one of the SP - 6, if I'm seeing this clearly - introduced the address scrambling. For the privacy questions regarding MAC address uploading, check http://grc.com/downloaders.htm.

2. MSKB#Q175472 demonstrates VB code to get the MAC address - I believe VFP adaption is feasible.

bye
