It's interesting to see everyone's reaction. Most people here seemed to dislike it. I finally watched it with my wife last night - we had taped it. We're both very big fans. She hated. I loved it.

One person mentioned that the characters need time to establish themselves. I think that the doctor is going to be great. He's so irreverent, yet he takes his job seriously. And you gotta love his "primitive" techniques - the cauterizing squiddy thing, etc.

I thought Archer was good too. He is like a Kirk, but I think at least he can act. And the story was fun, and action packed. It didn't have the profundity of TNG or the original, but at least it wasn't trying too hard, as in Voyager. That was one of many things about Voyager which I disliked - always trying to give us a message. It would be great if it worked, but it rarely did. So suck us in with some great action and plot, then try throwing some messages at us down the road.

Then there's Trip - he can't act, but I think his personality is not unlike what you'd find in certain circles of the military, in particular Navy Pilots: an egotistical, xenophobic, self centered hot-shot.

I believe that these guys will grow into their roles nicely, and as long as the writing keeps up, I think this could be as good as TNG - perhaps the best.

But then again, my wife, who's as big a fan as me, hated it.

>The Captain (Scott B.) lousy, most important, they need to get rid of the writers. Too much swearing, where is the Star Fleet protocol for human interaction with one being to another (ref. The Vulcan lady sarcasm, where’s the logic) AND the Captain with the cheep shots.

>I do consider myself a "Trekie" die hard and will continue giving Enterprise a chance however, if Rick Berman and the others don't improve the script, the show WILL bomb.
