Title:
Windows 2000 Pro Share Limit
Can anyone confirm that Windows 2000 Pro has a limit of 10 users per shared folder in a non-domain workgroup?
I put all of my VFP data files on a Win2k Pro PC. I set up the C drive on the Win2k Pro PC as shared. I can connect from Win95 and Win98 machines until I reach 10 connections, but connection #11 gets the error message
No more connections can be made to this remote computer
at this time because there are already as many connections
as the computer can accept.
When I check the Share settings for the Win2k Pro machine, it shows
User Limit: (x) Maximum Allowed
If I change User Limit to the manual option, the spinner stops at 10. I can type in any value (20 is what I need) but when APPLY is clicked, the value in the spinner is reset to 10.
I tried creating a second share that points to the same folder, but the limit still seems to be 10 users. I also checked that Disk Quotas are disabled and Security is set to Full Control for Everyone.
Am I missing something or is Win2k Pro limited to 10 users per shared folder/drive in a workgroup?
Thanks for any help!
